Relaxation

It is wonderful to relax on the many beaches of Montpellier. But also lazing around, a nice swim in one of the rivers is definitely recommended.
But if you have had enough sun and you long for some shade, then it is wonderful to relax in the bamboo forest, La Bambouseraie de Prafance.
For a leisurely ride, drive an old-fashioned steam train through the beautiful landscape over high bridges and through tunnels from Saint Jean du Gard to Anduze. And what about a wine tasting? In and around Saint-Hippolyte-du Fort you will find countless wineries where you can taste delicious wine.

The beaches of Montpellier

Less than an hour’s drive will find various wonderful beaches such as:
The beach of Villeneuve-les-Maguelon
The beach of Palavas-les-Flots

The beach of La Grande Motte

Bamboo forest

La Bambouseraie La Prafance
A Feng Shui garden, a Lao village and even a labyrinth form the backdrop for 150 species of bamboo, rare plants and special trees. For maximum relaxation you must go to the Valley of the Dragon. This zen garden, laid out according to Feng Shui principles, is dedicated to the art of Japanese gardens, to bonsai and to ikebana.

Steam train

With a real old-fashioned steam train you can make a wonderful ride from Saint-Jean-du-Gard to Anduze. The ride of +/- 45 minutes takes you past the beautiful nature reserve of the Cevennes. This train also takes you past the bamboo forest, La Bambouseraie.

Wineries

South of France and good wine, the two go well together. In Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort you will find the following wineries where wine tastings are often held such as:
Cave Coopérative “Les Terrasses Cévenoles”, Le Domaine De La Grand’Terre, and Le Domaine De Salle De Gour.

Would you like to visit a vineyard once and get a little more explanation about wine growing and making wine in your own language? Then you are very welcome at Le Mazelet (13 km). Ronald tells you with great passion about the different grape varieties and how the wine is made. The tour ends with a “tasting” where you can see, smell and taste all wines.
You can also try horse riding and wine. For more information, visit this site: //www.lemazelet.com/activiteiten/
